Firewood

Firewood is arguably still the largest market for locally produced woodfuel in the region. Recent increases in oil and gas prices and a general increase in the awareness of renewable energy has seen a dramatic increase in the demand for firewood over recent years.

Yorwoods are supporting the firewood sector in the region through various means. Through our Yorkshire Dales Sustainable Development Fund backed project we are offering support to firewood suppliers across the Dales area to increase the amount of quailty assured and sustianable sourced firewood made available to communities in the Dales. We can provide one to one mentoring for firewood suppliers to help achieve recognised quality assurance schemes such as the HETAS Solid Biomass Assurance Scheme and Woodsure.

In addition to working with suppliers, we are working with communities across the Dales to increase their awareness of the importance of sourcing quality firewood and how to get it. We've produced a Firewood Buyers Guide which you can download for free by clicking the link below. You'll also find below a list of firewood suppliers from across the Dales (non exhaustive and listing does not imply recommendation).

If you would like more information on firewood and how we may be able to help whether you are a user or supplier, please contact the office.
