At an awards ceremony at London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel on 11th June, Rural Development Initiatives Ltd. (RDI), Yorwoods managing agent, were amongst the short listed nominees for the British Renewable Energy Awards. RDI were nominated in the ‘Pioneer’ category (sponsored by British Sugar) for their work in promoting woodfuel and supporting the supply chain through projects such as Ignite, NewHeat, Ignition09 and bioeNErgy.

Martin Glynn, a Director of RDI, said ‘we were delighted to be shortlisted for these awards which is recognition for all the hard work that our partners and staff put into our projects. Considering we are a small company and up against organisations such as the Co-operative Group (the eventual winners) and the NHS we were very proud to be there. It also helped to move woodfuel further up the agenda as almost every other nominee in all categories dealt with wind, solar or one of the other more ‘eye-catching’ technologies.

The British Renewable Energy Awards are organised by the Renewable Energy Association and the 2009 Awards were sponsored by the RES Group. The Awards ceremony was attended by over 300 people from the renewable energy sector.
