The North Yorkshire Timber Freight Quality Partnership, led by Jon Brown, the freight officer at North Yorkshire County Council are currently consulting on approved extraction routes for timber within the county. North Yorkshire County Council is keen to work with foresters and landowners so it can plan its maintenance programme to target roads that may be expecting additional loads, eg timber wagons. In this way they can attempt to minimise the damage done to the highway.
In order to draw as complete a picture as is possible, the partnership are keen to track down blocks of timber that will be due for felling operations in the future. A draft map has been produced in association with Forest Enterprise and input is required from the private sector.
