Woodfuel Programme

Woodfuel offers a real alternative to fossil fuel heating and can cut fuel bills, is a secure energy source which supports the local economy and can help organisations meet their carbon obligabtions.

Government policy continues to support the use of woodfuel, and the Renewable Heat Incentive, which will provide long term financial support for woodfuel heating with payments being made for the production of heat, now offers real opportunitites for both the woodfuel supply chain and heat users.

The Woodfuel Programme is funded by CO2Sense and Yorkshire Forward, for the development of woodfuel projects within North Yorkshire.

As part of this programme, Yorwoods will be delivering the service across North Yorkshire, but will also support projects in other areas in the North of England.  The programme can provide capital support as well as dedicated facilitation and advisory service for projects that require investment in:

  • Developing the supply chain for quality wood pellet and wood chip production
  • Increasing the installed capacity/number of woodfuel installations, including Combined Heat and Power (CHP)

The funding is available for both the public and private sectors and will be focused on projects that can provide long term, sustainable woodfuel supply chains and sustainable wodfuel heating.

We are looking for high quality schemes to support.  If you are considering installing a woodfuel heating technology or you are looking to develop a woodfuel supply business, we can almost certainly help.
